How To Check A Real Or Fake Rudraksha At Home
Real vs Fake Rudraksha: Rudraksha is the seed of a rudraksh tree. It grows mostly in Nepal, India, and Indonesia. It is believed that it is a gift from Lord Shiva. Each bead has mukhis (lines or faces). Commonly, there are 1 to 21 mukhis, but the best one is 5 mukhi Rudraksha, which is good for everyone.
Reason of Fake Rudraksha: Many people wear Rudraksha to solve problems in life. But because real ones are in high demand, some sellers cheat people by selling fake, plastic, or artificially made Rudraksha. These don’t have any energy and are only a waste of money.
How to Check Real Rudraksha at Home
Some of the easy testing methods that you can do at home to check the genuineness of the rudraksha
- Water Test (Floating Test): Take a glass of clean water. Put the Rudraksha in it.If it sinks slowly, it is likely real. But If it floats, it may be fake or hollow. Some real Rudraksha may float too if they have air inside, so do more than one test.
- Copper Coin Test (Energy Test): Rub the Rudraksha bead on a pure copper coin or plate. If it leaves a light mark or makes the copper shine, it may have natural energy – a good sign. If there are No effect then It could be fake.
- Check the Mukhis (Lines): Look carefully at the Rudraksha. You’ll see some natural vertical lines from top to bottom. Count the lines. Each one is called a mukhi (face). In a real bead, lines are deep, natural, and go from end to end. In a fake one, lines may look shallow or made by tools.
- Touch and Feel Test: Hold the bead in your hand. A real Rudraksha feels strong and slightly rough. Fake ones may feel like plastic or too smooth. You can also smell it—real Rudraksha has an earthy smell, but fake ones don’t.
- Magnifying Glass Test: Use a magnifying glass to check closely. Real beads show natural holes, curves, and texture. Fake ones look too perfect or machine-made.
Be Careful of These Things
- Don’t buy Rudraksha from roadside sellers or untrusted shops.
- Avoid beads that are polished, colored, or coated.
- Buy from a trusted spiritual shop or a certified seller.
