How to Clean and Recharge Your Rudraksha At Home

Step By Step Procedure To Clean And Energize Rudraksh At Our Home

Clean and Recharge Your Rudraksha: Like our body and mind, it also require some care and positive energy to stay strong. Below is the step by step procedure how we can clean and activate rudraksh at our home.

How to Clean Rudraksha at Home (Daily or Weekly)

  • Step 1: Soak it for some time:  Take a small bowl of clean water or raw cow milk and soak your Rudraksha in it for about 10–15 minutes. If you have Gangajal (Ganga water), that’s even better.
  • Step 2: Gently Brush with Soft Cloth - Use a soft toothbrush or cotton cloth to remove dirt or oil from the bead. Do not use soap or chemical cleaners.
  • Step 3: Dry it Naturally - Wipe with a dry cloth and let it dry in shade (not direct sunlight).
  • Step 4: Apply a Drop of Mustard or Sandalwood Oil - This keeps the Rudraksha healthy and stops it from cracking. Apply once in a week or two.

How to Energize Rudraksha Before Wearing

You should energize Rudraksha before wearing it for the first time or after it is cleaned. Here’s a simple way to do that:

When to Energize: Do it on a Monday morning, during Brahma Muhurat (just before sunrise), or on a Shivratri day if possible.

Where to Energize: Sit facing East direction in a quiet and clean place (like a puja room or temple corner).

Basic Requirement

  • A copper plate
  • Water, milk, or Gangajal
  • Fresh flowers and sandalwood paste (if available)
  • A diya (lamp) and incense stick

Steps to Energize:

  • Place your Rudraksha on the copper plate.
  • Sprinkle a little Gangajal or milk over it.
  • As you do this, chant “Om Namah Shivaya” 108 times. Say it with full faith.
  • Offer some flowers or sandal paste to Lord Shiva (or his photo/statue).
  • Keep the Rudraksha in front of the diya for a few minutes to soak in positive energy.
  • Gently touch the bead to your forehead, feel the blessings, and then wear it.

Important Tips to Keep Rudraksha Energized

  • Do not share your Rudraksha with others.
  • Avoid touching it with dirty or wet hands.
  • Remove it before sleeping, bathing, or visiting funeral places.
  • Keep your thoughts clean and wear it with devotion.
